Introduction

Safety considerations in prescribing CDS are emphasized in this lesson, including the need for a comprehensive assessment first, the use of treatment agreements, and the application of guidelines and principles in selecting an appropriate CDS.

Making the decision to prescribe a CDS

The National Prescribing Centre in the UK advocates for  a single competency framework for all prescribers that includes three important domains for consideration when making a prescription choice: consultation, prescribing in context, and prescribing effectively (2014).
