Laboratory evaluation
As part of the differential diagnoses, laboratory and diagnostic testing are essential to rule out medical disorders that may be the root cause of the anxiety. Those to consider include the following:

Fasting glucose | Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) |
Electrolytes | Fasting lipid profile |
Urine toxicology for substance abuse | Liver enzymes |
24-hour creatinine (with renal disease) | Urinalysis |
Pregnancy test (if relevant) | Prolactin |
