Gender influences
Women often use and respond to medications differently, and have unique obstacles to effective treatment. For example, finding childcare has an impact on treatment adherence and women’s ability to engage in their own care. An additional challenge for women may be related to being prescribed treatment that has not been adequately tested in both sexes.
