Medical indications
All clinical encounters include a diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and assessment of goals of care. In the case of SM, he originally presented with a broken bone; however, since then he presented with body pain that was not investigated or treated. He admitted to alcohol dependency and was labelled as being cocaine dependent. He may have had untreated depression as he presented with anxiety and depression during hospital visits. The goal of treatment would have been to investigate and resolve the pain, but he only received a low dose of an analgesia. No treatment for alcohol dependency appears to have been offered.
