Explore the Health Canada website and Federal Department of Justice website and briefly scan through the relevant Acts and Regulations using the links provided.

Reflection questions:

• What are the federal Acts and Regulations that govern NP controlled drugs and substances prescribing in your jurisdiction?
• Are there additional provincial legislation and regulations that impact your prescriptive authority? What are they and what impact do they have?
• What role does the NCPR play in authorizing NPs to prescribe CDS?
• Find the Schedule to Part G of the Food and Drug Act, which lists the controlled drugs and substances that NPs can prescribe.
