General medical condition and psychosocial history

• A general medical history of patients with acute pain is taken that includes questions about physical health, emotional health, and medication use. Patients with depression, anxiety, or other psychiatric or psychological conditions will need additional assessment, support, and monitoring.
• A psychosocial history is obtained that includes information regarding living arrangements, family/social support, family obligations, work and financial status.
