Benzodiazepines

Benzodiazepines are the most commonly prescribed psychotropic among elderly patients (Jensen & Regier, 2014). Agents in this class listed in the Benzodiazepines and Other Targeted Substances Regulations (2012) include alprazolam, bromazepam, chlordiazepoxide, clobazam, clonazepam, clorazepate, diazepam, flurazepam, lorazepam, midazolam, nitrazepam, oxazepam, temazepam, and triazolam. They are available in short-, intermediate-, and long-acting preparations.
