Anabolic steroids – Pharmacodynamics/mechanism of action

At prescribed doses, anabolic steroids produce muscle development, physical vigor, and a feeling of well-being. Synthetic anabolic steroids are designed to mimic the body-building properties of testosterone. These drugs increase lean muscle mass by increasing protein within muscle cells, strength, and endurance. No scientific studies, however, support their performance-enhancing effects.
