Module 1: Professional Accountability and Prescribing
Lesson 4
Anti-drug strategy to increase safety
The National Anti-Drug Strategy provides a focused approach aimed at reducing the supply of and the demand for illicit drugs, prescription drug abuse, and crime associated with illicit drugs (Health Canada, 2015). The strategy includes a Prevention Action Plan to prevent illicit drug use and prescription drug abuse among young people by providing information to those most affected by drug use including parents, young people, educators, law enforcement authorities, and communities. In addition, the Anti-Drug strategy funds projects across the country for health promotion, prevention and treatment.
